3GEN Robotics Joins Amazon’s AWS Active Program

Amazon Web Services has accepted 3GEN Robotics into AWS Activate, its credit program for startups [1]. We joined through Activate Founders, the tier that startups apply to directly instead of through an accelerator or investor [1]. The credits will go toward building Bellwether, our platform for planning and simulating robot automation workflows.

What Is AWS Activate?

AWS Activate gives startups promotional credits to spend on AWS. According to AWS, the credits can offset costs on infrastructure, data services, and AI and machine learning models, including third-party models on Amazon Bedrock [2]. To qualify, a company has to be pre-Series B, founded in the last 10 years, and running an AWS account on a paid plan [1].

AWS for Startups also offers technical guidance, business mentorship, and go-to-market resources [2]. Its team includes former founders and CTOs, venture capitalists, angel investors, and mentors [2].

Why It Matters for Bellwether

Bellwether helps a company plan a robot automation project before it buys equipment. A user starts by uploading what they know about the task, such as videos of people doing the work, training materials, machine specifications, and operating procedures [3]. Bellwether turns that material into a step-by-step workflow, then simulates the robot tasks so the user can watch them run.

Those simulations need GPU compute. Robotics simulators such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim can run on Amazon EC2 instances with RTX GPU support [4]. Activate credits will help cover the GPU time behind Bellwether's simulations and the hosting for the Bellwether application itself, so more of our budget goes into the product.

What Comes Next

Bellwether is in alpha [3]. Over the coming months we'll keep working on the path from a task description to a simulated workflow, and to a plan a team can take to its leadership, an integrator, or a robot maker. We'll post progress here as it happens.

Thank you to the AWS for Startups team for including us.
